Probably Archery out on Steam and Humble Store

February 10, 2014 · Posted in PC · Comment

Following the success of the 7DFPS game jam entry and Steam Greenlight campaign, South East Games has released Probably Archery on both Steam and the Humble Store with a launch sale price of $8.99USD.
Probably Archery (Mac PC)
Probably Archery is a first person archery simulation that gives you control over the individual joints in your two arms. Similar in style to games like QWOP or Surgeon Simulator 2013, Probably Archery challenges you to master the control in a series of ridiculous, tense challenges. From screaming, exploding apple-headed berserkers charging at you, to shooting flying eggs while avoiding breaking fine china, the single player levels provide hilarious fun.

New to the full version of Probably Archery are 3 multiplayer modes. Team Deathmatch lets you balance speed with accuracy to try to take down your opponents before they put an arrow through you. The Co-op Horde mode puts you side by side with your friends as waves of increasingly more strange and terrifying creatures charge at you, including the giant pumpkin bosses. Finally, the strangest mode yet, Zoccer – Zombie Soccer takes away your bow and arrows and instead puts you in a first person multiplayer soccer match on a field filled with zombies. Use your cricket bat and revolver to clear the field of zombies or the opposing teams players!

Key Features:

  • Crazy and intense single player scenarios
  • Team Deathmatch multiplayer
  • Co-op wave-based Horde mode
  • Character customisation
  • Gamepad support
  • Razer Hydra support (currently Windows only)
  • Native Oculus Rift support
  • … and… Multiplayer Zombie Soccer

Probably Archery is available now for PC, Mac and Linux on Steam or DRM free on the Humble Store and includes Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra support.

Fading Hearts (PC)

Wayward Terran Frontier More than one player will be able to pilot a battleship

January 26, 2014 · Posted in PC · Comment

Wayward Terran Frontier is the first project of a brand new game studio Reason Generator Inc. Company founder George Hultgren has been working on a proof of concept for his game since April 2012. “I remember being inspired by Markus (Notch) Persson when he announced his plans for a similar multiplayer space adventure game 0x10c. He said ‘someone has to make this game’ and I remember thinking that maybe it would be me” says George. Indeed, the prototype for Wayward Terran Frontier shows some promise allowing players to design custom space ship, join up with a friend in multiplayer and enjoy a detailed combat system with ships breaking into pieces, catching on fire, and sometimes exploding.

This isn’t the first, or the only game that allows players to control a large battleship cooperatively, “My project is unique because on paper it started as a role playing game instead of as a simulation…” explains George, “I put down the framework of a standard loot-collecting dungeon-crawling RPG and asked myself how I could replace the 2-5 characters bashing demons with 2-5 characters commanding a battleship.” Following George’s vision, the gameplay of Wayward Terran Frontier draw equally from action role playing games, and the slower paced sci-fi role playing games of the 90s. George also mentions “Star control II and Escape Velocity were both a huge source of inspiration for this project, and I think it’s reflected in the art style.”

George is currently running a Kickstarter to fund the 2nd stage of this ambitious project, a player-run dedicated server with a persistent living world and lots of modding support. George’s Kickstarter video is somewhat awkward as he rants for a little too long about his vision, but he summarizes it well, “I have coded the framework for creating an infinitely large galaxy that is currently infinitely empty. I need the funds to fill the galaxy with artwork, sounds, and stories so it will be worth exploring” The pitch is probably better sold by the game’s trailer which features some epic slide guitar and a story of space cowboys finding a life of violence on the final frontier.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuVc8TV7rLA)

Wayward Terran Frontier is a work of passion created by a gamer trying to design the game he wants to play. The full game will retail for $15 on multiple platforms but the moddable multiplayer client will likely remain free forever.

Video game publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Little Green Men Games unveiled today they’re implementing virtual reality headset Oculus Rift into their highly anticipated, upcoming space sim-RPG Starpoint Gemini 2. Currently in Alpha on Steam’s Early Access program, Starpoint Gemini 2 will offer gamers the opportunity to launch fighter wings on unsuspecting enemies during space combat while utilizing Oculus Rift’s 3D, next-generation capabilities to provide unadulterated immersion.

“Even from our short time spent with Oculus Rift, we’re certain it’s a breakthrough in the making, bringing a whole new perspective on games in general,” says Mario Mihokovic, CEO of Little Green Men Games. “We’re thrilled for the ability to become a part of the VR revolution early on and can’t wait to see what we can do with it and what other developers will think of too.”

The sequel to Starpoint Gemini 1, Starpoint Gemini 2 is a unique space-simulation with role-playing elements that thrusts gamers into a fractious galactic space environment replete with 50 factions, dangerous wormholes, rift ways to speed travel, and a dynamic real-time 3D combat system. Players can pilot more than 70 distinct, fully upgradeable space craft in a universe that’s powered with realistic physics provided by NVIDIA PhysX technology.

With recent awards secured at CES 2014, Oculus Rift VR is a ground-breaking virtual reality headset for immersive gaming that’s officially supported by heavyweight industry veterans such as ID Software’s John Carmack, Epic Games, Unity, and investor Marc Andreessen among others.

Developer Little Green Men Games is looking for feedback on the development of Starpoint Gemini 2. Gamers interested in playing and sharing their experiences are invited to join the discussion on the Steam Community Hub.

Box2Glory the Football Manager of Boxing

November 22, 2013 · Posted in PC · Comment

Box2Glory allows you to train and fight as a real boxer and manage all aspects of the boxers career. From having verbal fights against your opponent pre-match to fighting using Artificial Intelligence. This game has been over 3 years in the making by an addict of the PC game Football Manager who looked around for a Boxing Manager game but couldnt find one, so decided to create it himself!

Here is the fact sheet from the developer:
“All boxers are driven by AI. You are responsible at getting them a good fight with a match up that they can win and also give them a fight plan.  They might follow a fight plan, but they all have personalities that might have them deviate from it.  And Box2Glory has the most in-depth strategy choices that exist in any boxing/mma simulation. If you want to fine tune minute details of strategy you will not be disappointed.

There are different types of personalities that boxers have. Some you want to be forceful with, some you want to be gentle with. So you want to reason with while others just want you to ignore.  You issue press releases before fights they have affect on moral their opponents. But if you say the wrong thing it may backfire on you.  Boxers make friends and enemies among themselves and managers. All this has an effect on the game.  Boxers with high ambition will get upset if you don’t move them up the ranks faster, boxers with high flare will taunt their opponents, boxers with aggressive personality will forget about your instructions in a heat of the battle.

The game is turn based with a new turn every day.  Thus there is no advantage to managers that have more time on their hands.  If you have 10 minutes a day you will do fine. Boxers will age and retire, some become trainers, refs, scouts. The game is played continuously as times goes by as each day in RL is a week in a game.

And while you keep on winning fight, have a close eye on your finances. Can you really afford this 4 star trainer from America right now, or that superstar scout?  Should I trade my star boxer for some needed cash?  And once you become really big you can open your very own boxing academy and create your very own boxers.”
